IT Tappatore; tappatrice - UK Capper; capping machine; closing machine - F Capsuleuse - D Verschließmaschine - E Capsuladora

Machine used for capping (bottles, jars, containers, etc.) with metal, plastic or cork closures. The machine operation depends from the type of closure; possible closure types are:
  • - Screw caps: Screw caps are pre-threaded caps that are applied onto the threaded container neck;
  • - Roll-on caps: Non-threaded caps are placed over the mouth of a rigid container; the thread is formed when the (aluminium) capsule is rolled over the bottle neck to secure the capsule to the container;
  • - Twist-off caps: Usually used for closing glass jars. They are applied like screw caps, but their tightening requires a smaller torque;
  • - Press & twist closures: They feature a plastisol gasket that adjusts to the profile of the container when the container is closed using steam and vacuum during the closing process;
  • - Crown caps: Usually used for glass bottles, these metal caps feature an internal polymeric gasket. The edges of the cap are crimped to secure it to the bottle mouth.
  • - Cork and plastic closures: A vertical pressure is applied to push the cork into the mouth of the container; the cork than expands to provide a perfect seal.
