Filling and dosing machines are used for measuring out a liquid or thick product in a container. The production process includes four main steps: alignment of the containers, introduction of the nozzle, product delivery, withdrawal of the nozzle. At the end of the cycle, the container is closed on a capping machine that can be a stand-alone unit or integrated with the filler. The fillers used in the beverage industry are continuous rotary machines; their production speeds range between 5,000 and 80,000 units per hour. Cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries mainly use linear machines, with alternating movement. The production speeds range from a few dozen to severl thousand units per hour. The capacity of a filler depends from the number of nozzles installed on the carrousel. Four filling methods are available: Gravimetric filling, counterpressure level filling, volumetric filling, and weight filling. The choice of either one of these systems depends from the type of beverage and container.
