Italian pasta packaging machines

Worldwide dry pasta production is estimated at 17 million tons, up 1.8% between 2021 and 2022 and 100% between 1998 and 2022. In the ranking of major producing countries, Italy ranks first with 3.5 million tons in 2022 (+3.2% compared to 2021); Italian production was worth 7 billion euros two years ago. Italy also leads in per capita consumption with 23 kg, followed by Tunisia with 17 kg and Venezuela with 12 kg. Thanks to historical relations with some Mediterranean countries and migrations between the 19th and 21st centuries, the eating style based on pasta consumption has spread around the world; menus in small restaurants and large international chains have also been important. 25% of world consumption is of product exported from Italy; the share of Italian product in European countries rises to 75%.
The pasta packaging machinery sector is worth €3.1 billion globally and is expected to grow by 3.5% during the four years between 2023 and 2027. Egypt, Brazil and China will be the largest buyers of packaging technology with an expected increase during the next 4 years of between 4% and 5%. In 2022, Italy sold pasta packaging machines worth 491 million euros; there are 190 industries active in the production of pasta packaging machines, and the most important trade fair for this type of machine, IPACK IMA, is also held every 3 years in Italy.
