Sistema automatico che realizza la confezione (flessibile) contemporaneamente al suo riempimento. Le macchine di questo genere, comunemente denominate form-fill-seal, possono essere di tipo verticale (VFFS) oppure orizzontale (HFFS). Nel primo caso l'alimentazione del prodotto da confezionare e quella del materiale di imballaggio (film plastico) avvengono dall'alto: il film viene fatto scorrere intorno ad un cilindro cavo attraverso il quale scende, per gravità, il prodotto dosato. Il film assume così la forma di un tubolare che viene saldato longitudinalmente e riempito con il prodotto. Quest'ultimo si deposita sulla saldatura trasversale che nel frattempo viene realizzata da due barre saldanti. Allo stesso modo avviene la chiusura dei lembi superiori. Successivamente un coltello taglia a metà ciascuna saldatura trasversale formando quindi i singoli sacchetti. Nelle macchine HFFS, invece, il film scorre in un tunnel di formatura e va ad avvolgere i prodotti. Anche in questo caso si forma un tubolare di film che viene saldato in senso longitudinale e trasversale, racchiudendo i singoli prodotti.
An automatic system that creates flexible packages at the same time as it is filling the package. Machines of this type are commonly called form-fill-seal (FFS) and can be oriented vertically (VFFS) or horizontally (HFFS). In the first case the product to be packaged and the packaging material (plastic film) is fed from above. The film passes around a hollow cylinder through which the product falls with gravitational force. The film is formed into a tubular shape that is then welded transversally and at the same time two bars are welded. At the same time the upper ends are sealed. Then a cutter cuts the weld in the middle, forming two single sacks. In an HFFS machine, the film passes through a shaping tunnel and is wrapped around the product. In this case the film is also tubular and is welded in a vertical and transverse direction, closing in the individual product.
